Mining the Northwest: Fortunes Won and Lost in the Bulkley Valley

Mining has been a part of the Bulkley Valley’s cultural fabric for over 100 years. This exhibit focuses on the early twentieth century: a time when fortunes were won and lost. The exhibit can be viewed at the Museum and at our Culture Crawl locations: Safeway, Schimmel’s Bakery + Café, Heavenly Grinds and Service BC


Witsuwit'en Exhibit

The Bulkley Valley Museum is on the traditional territory (yin tah) of the Witsuwit'en. Our permanent Witsuwit'en exhibit area features artifacts, images and information about the Witsuwit'en.

BV Museum AGM

The Bulkley Valley Historical & Museum Society will hold its AGM for 2016 on March 22nd, 7pm, at the old Church. Everyone is welcome! Membership with the Society is required to vote.

Recent Grants for Special Projects

In July the BV Museum received a grant of $4850 from the Wetzink’wa Community Grant Program. The funds will be used to purchase a new desktop computer, as well as additional software for our Collections Online website including a PDF viewer to allow the public to view digitized archival records, and a photo commenting add-on to help users tag unidentified photographs.

Also in July, the Museum received $500 towards the cost of our two day Canadian Conservation Institute facility assessment from the Bulkley Valley Credit Union. Thank you to the BVCU for assisting with this important project!
